I know I don’t talk enough about my Itty Bitty Knits etsy shop. I have several different newborn to 1 year hats and I also offer custom order hats. Currently two different styles to choose from.
I’ve decided to also offer custom order booties. Very soon I will offer custom order socks.

I also have a Hyena Cart in the works. It won’t be completely opened until I can stock it this weekend, but I’m excited.

I also have been busy with client orders for knitted items.
Hopefully I can keep up a steady stream of work with client orders and my shops. I enjoy knitting and why shouldn’t someone enjoy their work.

I love fluffy mail. Especially when it’s yarn. Especially when it’s yarn I ordered from Knit Picks.

Knit Picks yarn has become a new favorite. Not only are the prices awesome, but the yarn is superb. Soft, beautiful drape, wonderful colors. What more can you ask for??

little beanie

This is for this hat.;

I can’t wait to finish knitting, block it and let Skyler wear it.

knitting longies

Then I have the yarn for the longies I’m knitting for a client. Knit Picks Cotton/Acrylic (solid orange) & Berroco Acrylic/Nylon (variegated orange/brown/blue/green) yarns for longies.

Both projects are going to be fabulous.

Can I brag for a moment?

About how cool my kid is?

Jump!

Seriously, most rocking toddler on the face of this earth.

At least I think so ;)

And he’s got a pretty mean jump to.

I’m not purposely trying to kill my blog. I’ve been busy and every time I start to blog, I get side tracked. It’s frustrating really.

Tuesday was Skyler’s birthday and we both really enjoyed the day we spent together. The morning at the doctors (40lbs and 41″ tall!!), shopping and then out to lunch. The rest of the day was filled with playing with toys and lounging around watching his new Backyardigans and Wonderpets movies.

Happy Birthday!

I love days like that.

I have have knit my first pair of socks! Unfortunately they were knit with Malabrigo yarn so they pick up every single bit of dirt or litter on the floor, slide off his feet so easily and they don’t hold their shape well at all. But they look great and that’s what is important.

Skyler's first pair of socks

I can’t wait to knit his next pair of socks :)

malabrigo diptych

I am so in love with Malabrigo yarn. So in love that I find myself gazing longingly at it. I find my eyes tearing up when I see the shrinking ball of yarn and I realize that soon I will be done with this project. Soon I will have to move onto another project where I must replace the malabrigo with a different yarn. And yes, I have been getting a little upset with this thought. -sigh-

It’s also a little upsetting when I realize how many times I have scrunched up with this scarf and snuggled up to it’s softness and thought of how warm it will be. -deeper sigh- I want to keep this scarf as my own….

Even though the colors are not really my favorite and at first I really didn’t like the look of the pattern, it’s grown on me and I love it. I simply adore it. But I guess that’s how I feel about anything that I have knit. I known how much hard work and how much time goes into each project, so in the end it’s hard not to love it. And what I don’t love gets frogged in the end so I can knit something better.

And what’s even better is finding clients that will care for and love the projects as much as I do.

And since I love showing off pictures of my Skyler, here’s one I took this past Saturday at the library.

the little boy and the big library

LOVE this library. They have HUGE windows built along the front of the library so it has the most amazing light. I love bringing my camera and taking photos because I know that I can turn the ISO way down and still have a great shutter speed. And photogs all know how important it is to maintain a high shutter speed while keeping the ISO down is. I’m not that much of a lame-oid to get giddy when I think about it. Ok… maybe I am…

I had something very lovely waiting for me when I got home on Thursday.

knitpicks

Which means I now have the yarn to complete the next two baby presents. I’m excited but also a little worried I won’t be able to complete all these projects.

6 baby presents, scarf (client), 2 hat/glove/scarf sets (client), longies (client). A couple of the sets I haven’t gotten the yarn for yet, but it won’t be long.

The extra money from the client projects will be nice, I’ll just have to make sure that I’m knitting every chance I get…

I love….

the shining smile on Skyler’s face when I ask him “pretty please with a cherry on top, Will you sit right there and let me take a picture??”

the sunlight shines in your smile

how he finds so much joy in playing with anything. No matter how big, how small, whether it’s even a toy at all…

he's growing up

how he has so much imagination and how much his personality has grown….

I can’t believe that he’s going to be 3 soon. 15 days and he’s not my 2 year old.

and completely unrelated to Skyler, do you know what else I love??

Soft, squishy, pretty, oh soooo yummy and beautiful Malabrigo.

mommy… may I have some more crack yarn??

to knit Skyler this jacket. Steggie Kids’ Dinosaur Cardigan

Can you just imagine the cuteness that is going to radiate from my child as he wears his Steggie Jacket!! The only problem is that it’s going to cost around $100 just to get the yarn.

Soooo….. I’m going to start saving my pennies and start slowly buying a skein of the yarn to make Skyler’s jacket. And if anybody wants to buy something from my Itty Bitty Knits shop, or wants to pay me to knit them something (email me! jessica.hirsch @ psychoticallysane.com) let me know. Every dollar will go to the “Sky’s steggie jacket” fund :)

This past weekend, during a short summer storm, I decided that Skyler and I needed to spend an afternoon playing in the rain. Who cares how wet we got, who cares how many puddles we jumped in, who really cares how muddy it was outside. I wanted to get that childish feeling and just play in the rain. I feel so lucky I have a little boy that enjoys playing in the rain too. It didn’t last long and certainly didn’t rain very hard, but we had fun.

hip shot. <3

all wet

Skyler was a little sick on Monday, running a low fever (100 at the very most) and just over all feeling yucky. So we played hooky and enjoyed an off day. We laid around watching TV, reading books and just resting and relaxing. It was nice and I got in some much needed knitting time. I managed to get a couple of projects finally completed (just need pictures) and I frogged some projects that were just sitting around, never going to get completed.

I also have a tag and logo for my Itty Bitty Knits. I sent out a couple of packages this past Saturday. I was sad to see them go though.

But I can’t wait to get more knitted goods out :)

Over the past week, I’ve learned some very valuable lessons.
#1- It’s very easy to lose your keys in the library. I found out today that I wasn’t the only person last weekend to lose my keys.
#2- A lot of car/truck keys have chips in them to start the ignition. This chip is VERY expensive. I found this out the hard way.
#3- NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER use UPS store to ship a package. Holy mother of insanity, $10 f’ing dollars to mail out a package that wasn’t even 1lb. I wish I had driven the extra 10 minutes to the post office. But a whiney, hungry toddler is not fun and usually doesn’t listen to reason. -sigh-

But the good news is that I’m getting through on my knitting projects. I have a bad habit of starting one project, working a few days and then abandoning it for another project. I keep doing this until I have 3-4 projects that I knit on rotation. I suddenly feel like this is a very OCD problem and luckily I’m pushing myself to finish each and every project I start, BEFORE I start a new one. I’ll let you know at the end of next week how this is working out.

And thanks to the very dear Kimberly, I have a fabulous new logo for Itty Bitty Knits. It’s simple, it’s to the point, it’s exactly what I wanted in a logo. Front side of the card has the logo, backside has a personalized note to the buyer. :)

Today I sent out the hat&booties set…

and the grumpasaurus. And for some strange reason, I felt a little sad about letting them go.

Now I’m off to bed to hopefully finish 1 out of 4 projects which are 95% completed…. I’ve got a problem…
