So badly I want to be in bed, but it’s one of those nights that I can’t sleep unless I blog. I’m trying to be happy that the feeling of blogging is back, but I know it won’t last long. What happened to the novelty of blogging? What happened to feeling like I needed it? Now I spend my free time with Skyler (not like it’s a bad thing) or knitting. It’s not like I get much free time, but I’m certainly not spending much time on the computer anymore.
This past Saturday I spent the day in Chattanooga. Roughly a two hour drive from where I live, but it was worth it. The weather was a beautiful 75 degrees, the sun shining and the birds were chirping. It was gorgeous outside and made for a great day outside.
I took lots of pictures of flowers, my friends and my toddler. I’ll blog about it later this week when I have pictures to show from it. For now, just a couple of bokeh pictures because what is a blog post without a photo?
And don’t forget to check out my Pay It Forward post! It’s full of awesome karma goodness.
I’m ashamed to admit that since getting my Canon 30D, I haven’t had much time to play with it. I’ve taken a couple pictures here and there, but nothing really blog worthy. I’ve taken more time reading the manual and playing with the settings and then going back through my million photography and camera books to remind myself what certain settings mean. Would it be better for my camera to be set to AI FOCUS or AI SERVO? What metering should it be set too? My nose has been buried in books and it hasn’t just been my camera and photography books. I’ve been re-reading the Harry Potter series. (Don’t laugh. I’m on book 7 since starting the series 3 weeks ago.) I recently bought a new knitting hat book that I love and is getting me more motivated to knit. I’m using the ideas in the book and reading through the patterns for little tips but I’m making the hats just a little different. More my own idea. There are a couple of hats in the book that I’m going to make as is, but for the most part I want them just a little different than the author made them. Knitting has become an addiction for me. I love how calming and de-stressing it is.
And then because I despise and feel guilty if I leave the post photo-less – (I’ve felt horrible the past few months for my lack of photography and lack of blog posting) – I actually managed to take a Happy Bokeh Wednesday picture. It ended up being a collaborative diptych effort with Kimberly. It turned out good ;)

Quick post.
New name and some design changes to the blog. My Photography business will now be known as Erin Star Photography. Kimberly and Sarah actually had some part in the name. Long story. I won’t go into details. Just thanking them both for such a fantastic name. My middle name is Erin, so it works ;) I do however get to thank Kimberly for such a fabulous new blog header. 3 new blog headers to be exact. It’s simple, colorful and it’s me. Love love love it. Thank you again Kimberly.
Now onto the updates:
I called the hospital. They need someone to do the newborn portraits. It would be 9:30-12:30 (possibly till 1 or 2 just depending on how many births). I told her that I was hoping to do a Saturday & Sunday thing but she asked me if I would be able to do during the week also. Considering that it hurts for me to miss a day, I don’t know how well that will work out. However, I told her that Monday & Wednesday are days that I HAVE to be at my full time job. In two weeks, I should get a call back for an interview. They are taking names and numbers and then will start interviews. I’m crossing my fingers. I would LOVE to do this.
Skyler’s birthday in 8 days. My birthday in 5. Another year older, another year past. I still have no clue what to get Skyler for his birthday. I have bought him a couple puzzles, some winter shirts and an elmo toy but nothing special. I want to get him something really special but I have no clue what. He doesn’t need anything. He plays with all of his little people. Doesn’t need any more. He plays with the many different blocks he has. Doesn’t need anymore. Plays with his tons of duplos. Definitely doesn’t need anymore. What do you give to the toddler that is happy with everything that he has?? And he certainly can’t tell me what he wants. Any ideas, oh faithful blog readers?
I’m getting slack happy with my photography. I’ll use my carpal tunnel as an excuse for not picking up my camera. I need to use carpal tunnel as my excuse for staying off the computer, but I can’t. I’ve been getting on way too much. I did however take a couple pictures worth photoshopping when Skyler and I went on a walk today. It was hot outside and the sun was beating down but it felt good just walking side by side with him as he pointed out and named everything in sight. I love him.
Happy Bokeh Wednesday all my fabulous blog readers.
Skyler is sick so I’m spending the morning at home. I’ll be working tonight so I had to make sure to get my bokeh pictures done for the day.
Nothing new to update on. I might have something when I get off work tonight. For now, some bokeh pictures.
Very Unhappy Bokeh Wednesday today. Work is getting more stressful. People are getting more agitated with everything going on. My workload has more than doubled in the last couple months and I feel like I’m not getting compensated for it.
Today was not the enjoyable day I had hoped for.
I blame it on the big wigs for having a visit.
