It’s astonishing to me how much I have grown to love knitting. For only doing it for a years time, it’s become my most loved hobby. I carry a knitting project everywhere with me and I often bring it out at work and knit a few rows on my lunch. I don’t get embarrassed or think of it as “the granny hobby”. The only time that I don’t like knitting is when I’m working on a project and I decide that I want to keep it. I decide that giving it to it’s rightful owner will kill me, so while the needles are flying, I’m putting together a plan so I don’t have to give up the knitted up. Like these….

Simply known as the purple longies. But if there was a way to be in love with a knitted item, I have found it. They are simply gorgeous. Just look at the colors and the pattern that the variegated yarn forms!

This next photo shows more true to life colors. And the cuff. The best part. A garter eyelet stitch cuff. And while I’m a fugly garter stitch hater, I’m a garter eyelet stitch lover.

But, I’m going to share some joyous news. I’m almost out of the yarn. This yarn. Cascade 220 Superwash Paints. In Grape. Such a scrumptious name! Cascade Superwash Paints is a wonderful yarn. Soft, machine washable, even though I would probably just handwash them. I mean, if the longies were mine. And I wish that they were. But then that means that I would need a little baby girl to wear them…..
Anyways… so I’m down to about 40 more yards of the yarn when I need at least 80-100 yards. So I ordered some more of the yarn (since I can use it for a super cute stocking cap to sell on my Etsy). So while I’m patiently waiting for the yarn, I’m enjoying my limited time with the longies. Gazing longingly at the colors and the sweet cuff. Admiring my stitch work. It really is nicely done.. Sigh… I really hope the owner loves these longies as much as I do…

So I’ve been busy lately…
working, Skyler, life…
and of course, knitting.
Itty Bitty Leggies
My current project is pretty fabulous.
At least I think so.

Because anything with drawstrings and pom-poms are pretty fabulous.
And I know a lot of people will agree with me.
Itty Bitty Leggies
Introducing…..

Itty Bitty Leggies!!!

Soon to be in my shop. Here is style numero uno. Next I’m going to knit style numero dos.

Itty Bitty Leggies

I love baby items :)

what a tease!!

The Fall Camo Longies are done. And even though I had a little sizing flaw in the beginning (and I hope not a sizing flaw currently!!), I really enjoyed knitting them.

I love how soft they are. Even though I really don’t like camo colorway, I love the colors of the longies.

and now, I present, the finished longies….

Reegan's Longies

And I’m going to have custom longies available on Itty Bitty Knits.

I’m so excited!!

It has been raining a butt load this past week and a half. Seriously. I’ve built my ark and the flood was too much for it. Skyler has been singing “Rain rain go away” for the past week and a half. He’s been singing it so much that he’s adding in his own lines just to keep it from getting boring. And then today it hit me, take Skyler outside when it’s raining. Grab my camera, an umbrella and let the kid go to town. Fantabulous photo shoot just as long as I keep my camera protected and the rain doesn’t come down in sheets.

So I leave work today with the perfect rain storm coming down. I drive 5 minutes down the road and the rain lets up. The roads are perfectly dry and I swear I heard birds singing and flitting around. WTF?? I drive another couple of minutes and it’s raining. I say a little thank you to the rain gods and go back to imagining all the fabulous photos I’m going to get. I get to his daycare and the birds are back out. I get home and I know there is no chance we’ll get rain.

Bummer…. Where is the rain when I want it???

and just for kicks & giggles… This is the look I get when he is done with having his photo taken. I guess he doesn’t like his very own mamarazzi following him around everywhere!

On an up-note, the longies are 2 hours away from being finished. And I’m 1 hour away from collapsing from exhaustion. I’m so excited to have them finished because they are the most fabulous thing in the world. I don’t know how I’m going to be able to let them go!

This is what I’ve been doing the past week and few days….

Never mind the sleep insomnia, never mind the raging headaches, never mind the wrist and hand pain.

I am absolutely in love with these longies. And I can’t wait to finish them. Not that they have been a PITA knit, because they certainly haven’t. They have been enjoyable for the most part. Every time I hold them up to admire my work, I smile and my heart bursts with joy. They make me that happy. And I can’t wait to have them finished and ship them off so they can make someone else incredibly happy too…

And knitting these makes me realize that Knitted Longies are definitely going to be an item I want to list in my etsy shop.

I know I don’t talk enough about my Itty Bitty Knits etsy shop. I have several different newborn to 1 year hats and I also offer custom order hats. Currently two different styles to choose from.
I’ve decided to also offer custom order booties. Very soon I will offer custom order socks.

I also have a Hyena Cart in the works. It won’t be completely opened until I can stock it this weekend, but I’m excited.

I also have been busy with client orders for knitted items.
Hopefully I can keep up a steady stream of work with client orders and my shops. I enjoy knitting and why shouldn’t someone enjoy their work.

to knit Skyler this jacket. Steggie Kids’ Dinosaur Cardigan

Can you just imagine the cuteness that is going to radiate from my child as he wears his Steggie Jacket!! The only problem is that it’s going to cost around $100 just to get the yarn.

Soooo….. I’m going to start saving my pennies and start slowly buying a skein of the yarn to make Skyler’s jacket. And if anybody wants to buy something from my Itty Bitty Knits shop, or wants to pay me to knit them something (email me! jessica.hirsch @ psychoticallysane.com) let me know. Every dollar will go to the “Sky’s steggie jacket” fund :)

This past weekend, during a short summer storm, I decided that Skyler and I needed to spend an afternoon playing in the rain. Who cares how wet we got, who cares how many puddles we jumped in, who really cares how muddy it was outside. I wanted to get that childish feeling and just play in the rain. I feel so lucky I have a little boy that enjoys playing in the rain too. It didn’t last long and certainly didn’t rain very hard, but we had fun.

hip shot. <3

all wet

Skyler was a little sick on Monday, running a low fever (100 at the very most) and just over all feeling yucky. So we played hooky and enjoyed an off day. We laid around watching TV, reading books and just resting and relaxing. It was nice and I got in some much needed knitting time. I managed to get a couple of projects finally completed (just need pictures) and I frogged some projects that were just sitting around, never going to get completed.

I also have a tag and logo for my Itty Bitty Knits. I sent out a couple of packages this past Saturday. I was sad to see them go though.

But I can’t wait to get more knitted goods out :)

Over the past week, I’ve learned some very valuable lessons.
#1- It’s very easy to lose your keys in the library. I found out today that I wasn’t the only person last weekend to lose my keys.
#2- A lot of car/truck keys have chips in them to start the ignition. This chip is VERY expensive. I found this out the hard way.
#3- NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER use UPS store to ship a package. Holy mother of insanity, $10 f’ing dollars to mail out a package that wasn’t even 1lb. I wish I had driven the extra 10 minutes to the post office. But a whiney, hungry toddler is not fun and usually doesn’t listen to reason. -sigh-

But the good news is that I’m getting through on my knitting projects. I have a bad habit of starting one project, working a few days and then abandoning it for another project. I keep doing this until I have 3-4 projects that I knit on rotation. I suddenly feel like this is a very OCD problem and luckily I’m pushing myself to finish each and every project I start, BEFORE I start a new one. I’ll let you know at the end of next week how this is working out.

And thanks to the very dear Kimberly, I have a fabulous new logo for Itty Bitty Knits. It’s simple, it’s to the point, it’s exactly what I wanted in a logo. Front side of the card has the logo, backside has a personalized note to the buyer. :)

Today I sent out the hat&booties set…

and the grumpasaurus. And for some strange reason, I felt a little sad about letting them go.

Now I’m off to bed to hopefully finish 1 out of 4 projects which are 95% completed…. I’ve got a problem…

I’ve done horrible keeping up with both my knitting blog and this blog. So I’m putting the two together.

In a previous post I mentioned a Twin Leaf Scarf that I’m currently working on.
Check out the pre-blocked lace work

and the deep maroon color. It’s exquisite

And of course the finished Grumpasaurus a friend special ordered. I love the face.

Now I’m off to work on the Twin Leaf scarf. Or… work on a hair kerchief if I can find a pattern I like. I know the perfect yarn for it.
